Our highly trained and experienced medical staff will be glad to provide you with a free, confidential ultrasound. You will then be provided with accurate information on your pregnancy status, as well as the information and referrals you need.
One sure way that we can help you to find out if you are pregnant, and then determine approximately how far along you are, is through a limited, obstetric ultrasound. Ultrasound uses high frequency sound waves which “bounce” off the fetus and produce a picture which is projected onto a screen.
With ultrasound, the gestational sac can be seen as early as 4 ½ weeks. The tiny embryo can be observed and measured by 5 ½ weeks. The beating heart is one indicator that the pregnancy may be viable and likely to continue on its natural course. Using measurement, we can usually estimate the gestational age and an accurate due date.
Important Note: If you are considering abortion, it is important that you first have an ultrasound. Approximately 30% of all positive pregnancy tests do not develop into a viable fetus. An ultrasound can show if the heart is beating and if the pregnancy is located in the uterus. Some fertilized eggs never make it out of the fallopian tubes and can cause the tube to rupture as it grows larger. This is called an ectopic pregnancy. An ultrasound can indicate if you should seek immediate medical attention.
