Considering Adoption?

Like many women who choose adoption, you might not want an abortion but aren’t quite ready to be a parent either.

Are you also worried about your financial stability, family situation, or future endeavors? That’s okay! Making an adoption plan for your child is a wonderful option for women facing an unplanned pregnancy.

What Is Adoption?

Adoption is the legal transfer by the courts of the rights and responsibilities of parenting from a birth couple to an adoptive couple. Because it is a permanent decision, you need to ensure you understand the process, Nebraska adoption laws, and your rights as a birth mother.

How Do I Begin?

Adoption can be difficult and emotionally challenging, but can be a great option for women facing an unplanned pregnancy. When you set up an appointment with Assure Women’s Center, we will walk you through our process and answer any questions you may have. If you want to learn more about adoption, we will provide you with contact information for reputable adoption agencies.

Are There Different Types of Adoption?

There are three different adoption plans: open, closed, and semi-open. The amount of contact you wish to have with your child before placement, while in the hospital, and after placement determines your adoption plan.

Open Adoption

With open adoption, you and the adoptive family exchange information such as names, addresses, and phone numbers. You have the opportunity to play an active part in your child’s life.

Closed Adoption

To stay completely anonymous in the process, you would choose a closed adoption, also known as a confidential adoption. With this plan, no identifying information is shared.

Semi-Open Adoption

A semi-open adoption plan means you and the adoptive family have contact through your adoption coordinator. You’ll learn about your child without personal contact.
