Common Pregnancy Symptoms
Early pregnancy symptoms vary from person to person. Some women notice changes within days of conception, while others experience few or no symptoms. Understanding what these signs indicate and what they cannot tell you on their own is an important first step in confirming a pregnancy.
Assure Women’s Center provides no-cost, confidential pregnancy testing and ultrasounds.

Early pregnancy symptoms are largely driven by hormonal changes following implantation. As levels of hCG and progesterone rise, the body begins responding in ways that produce recognizable physical changes.
The following symptoms are frequently reported in early pregnancy:
Many of the symptoms above can be associated with other conditions. Clinical testing is necessary to confirm a pregnancy.
A pregnancy test detects hCG and provides an initial indication of pregnancy. If the result is positive, an ultrasound is the recommended next step. An ultrasound determines gestational age, confirms the location of the pregnancy, and assesses viability by detecting cardiac activity.
Location is particularly important to confirm. An ectopic pregnancy, in which implantation occurs outside the uterus, is a medical emergency that requires immediate treatment and cannot be addressed through abortion.
Because approximately 1 in 4 recognized pregnancies end in miscarriage, pregnancy symptoms may persist even when a pregnancy is no longer developing. An ultrasound provides the only accurate assessment of the pregnancy status.
If you are experiencing any of the symptoms above, Assure Women’s Center provides free, confidential pregnancy testing and ultrasounds to provide the health information you need to understand your situation and options.
