The age we live in presents us with instant answers about many things, including pregnancy. New technology with pregnancy testing sometimes allows a woman to find out if she is pregnant even before she misses a period. However, the fact remains that up to 1/3 of all early pregnancies are lost to miscarriage.
This is where ultrasound technology can be valuable. An early ultrasound can show whether a pregnancy is viable, or will continue. By six weeks, the tiny heart beat should be clearly seen. If it is not, there is a chance the pregnancy may not continue. If the pregnancy will be lost, there is no sense in having to agonize over which option to choose.
